Port of Belize Limited Acquires 2025 Kalmar Essential-Range Reachstacker

New 45-ton capacity machine to boost container handling, safety, and efficiency.

Belize City, Belize — The Port of Belize Limited is proud to announce the procurement of a brand-new 2025 Kalmar Essential-Range Reachstacker with a 45-ton lifting capacity, acquired at an approximate cost of BZ$1.2 million. This is the first of two units, with the second expected by late August and operational by early September. This investment will deliver significant operational and economic benefits for the port now and well into the future.

With the ability to lift up to 45 tons and stack containers six-high, the new reachstacker will enable faster container movements and more efficient yard utilization — reducing vessel turnaround times and increasing overall handling capacity. This means better cargo flow and higher throughput without requiring additional yard space.

Equipped with advanced safety systems, the machine helps minimize downtime and reduce the risk of equipment mishandling, directly improving productivity per shift. Predictive maintenance alerts and usage analytics will help keep the reachstacker in peak condition longer, cutting unplanned downtime and optimizing lifecycle costs.

In essence, this acquisition is more than just an equipment upgrade — it is a forward-looking, cost-efficient investment that strengthens the Port of Belize Limited’s role as a competitive, efficient, and environmentally responsible gateway for regional and international trade.
