Unloading of MV Pampero delayed by Fighting on Vessel

Submitted by portofbelize on Wednesday, 28 October 2009No Comment

On October 12, around midnight a crew member attacked the Captain of the M.V. Pampero resulting in the crew member being removed from the vessel pending the arrival of the local police. While the BERT ambulance also arrived on the scene, its services were not required as the injuries that the captain received were minor. However while the vessel departed the following day, the crew member responsible for the attack was not on that vessel.

The unloading of the vessel was delayed for approximately for 2 hours. At no point were the employees of the Port in danger, however for safety purposes they were isolated from the vessel until the information about the incident was verified and dealt with.
